Kanye West, Adele Score Big Video Music Awards
This year's Video Music Awards nominations have been announced, and Kanye West cleaned up nicely, netting seven nominations in total. The hip hop star tied with Adele and was second only to Katy Perry, who received nine nominations. West was primarily honored for his "All of the Lights" clip, which picked up nods for Best Male Video and Best Hip Hop Video, but he also got recognition for "Power" as well as his collaboration with Katy Perry for her "E.T." video. Perry's impressive list of nominations included those for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video, which were split among her clips for "Firework" and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." British sensation Adele's seven nods are all for her hit song "Rolling in the Deep." Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Lupe Fiasco all picked up nominations for Best Hip Hop Video, while hot hip hop newcomers Tyler The Creator, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Kreayshawn dominated the Best New Artist category. The 2011 Video Music Awards will be broadcast August 28 on MTV. Check out the full list of nominees at MTV.com.
