sources freshlikedougie.com Alicia Keys has been one of the more culturally exciting singers
of the early 2000′s R&B grooves, and the mother, wife and singer has been upheld as a great standard of talent and upstanding charity for helping anyone and everyone in need when she’s got the opportunity.
Though her latest opportunity isn’t necessarily for charity, Alicia Keys turned something down for once– and it’s rumored that it was all due to a dark family secret. Keys’ grandmother was apparently the one to have let her know that she shouldn’t take the guest starring appearance on “Finding My Roots” with Dr. Henry Louis Gates.
There aren’t any details as to why this isn’t such a great idea, but the host of the show (Gates) shared a conversation that was had just prior to Alicia backing out of her initial obligations on the show.
“Her African-American grandmother said ‘Baby…’, we send people a form, we need as much information as you can give us. Like the names of your parents, where they were born, grandparents etc., whatever you can give us. It makes our job a lot simpler right? Her grandmother said ‘Baby, you can’t be in the series. I can’t tell you why, but you can’t be in the series.’”
If Alicia really doesn’t know what the behind the scenes secret is with her family– she’s surely asking questions now, and it’s most likely only a matter of time before she does find out just why she shouldn’t be digging around in her family history.
What do you think was holding A. Keys back?
