Van vicker knocked, Majid Michel stepped in, and ..Samuel Ofori comes bulldozing

For years, the Ghanaian movie industry was in shambles with a scanty sense of urgency for the absolute lethargy that had engulfed the entire industry. Year after year, the struggle continued and the lack of leadership further made things rather difficult.
The earliest form of a resurgence only begun after the likes of Abdul Salam Mumuni began to pull the bull by the horn and attempt wholesome and local based movies with full fledged Ghanaian young and upcoming artistes. It was a struggle to create a market and acceptance for these movies but nonetheless he persisted.
The earliest local stars he introduced into the market consisted of Majid Michel, Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari and Van Vicker and they soon began to blossom. But as Van Vicker and Nadia Buari continued on the path of ascendancy, Jackie Appiah retained a second fiddle to the two and Majid fizzled out from contention.

The pair continued a dominance of the screens and became household names until a sense of apathy began to set in and movie lovers called for more diversity. None other than Jackie Appiah to fill up the space together with another sensation who had reared up her head in the person of Yvonne Nelson followed quickly by another star in the making in the person of John Dumelo. They ruled the market, they made household names, and continued to deliver when called upon. But was that all Ghana churned out? Was a roaring lion subtly creeping with full speed from behind?……… If so who was it?
He made entry quietly and unnoticed. Gradually and progressively, Samuel continued to feature in countless Miracle Film movie releases and tried hands on other movie castings as and when the scripts were good. But all along, this gem in the making had bigger plans and a vision to transcend and make a strong statement, and soon began to directly produce his own movies, where he mostly featured as the lead actor and defined the roles and direction of each movie he successfully produced. The journey was beginning to take shape, the consolidation process had begun and Samuel was bulldozing his way much faster and stronger to a higher pedestal than anyone would have noticed.
So the awe’s, and wow’s, and gasps, kept rolling in when he received the most nominations for this year Ghana Movie Awards including “Best actor in a leading Role [English Language,” “Best Directing [English Language],” “Best Music [Original Score]” amongst the five categories in all for which he got nominated for.
Tenacity pays, hardwork and persistence are rewarding, and Samuel Ofori is shedding the light for what can be achieved with total diligence, and rise to the highest pedestal possible. The future beckons, and the actor, producer and director has finally arrived … with a bang! Five award nomination is no mean feat and we congratulate him on this illustrious achievement.
