Lady Gaga Named Associated Press Entertainer of the Year

Lady Gaga

Pop superstar Lady Gaga’s year just got sweeter.
Topping off a monstrous 12 months that included winning the best Pop Vocal Album Grammy for last year’s The Fame Monster and selling an unthinkable 1.1 million first-week copies of her newest disc Born This Way in May, Gaga can now add Entertainer of the Year to her 2011 resume.
Previous winners of the Associated Press award include comedian Tina Fey and singer Taylor Swift, whom Gaga narrowly bested this year. Recently deceased Apple founder Steve Jobs came in second to Gaga this year, trailing by only three total votes.
Born Stefani Germanotta, Gaga turned her ubiquity into income this year. Forbes named her the highest-grossing female musician in 2011 for her reported $90 million earned before taxes.
A critically acclaimed HBO concert special (Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden), a visit to the White House and an appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live were all highlights of Gaga’s 2011.
Gaga is currently prepping her “Born This Way” tour for 2012 and has plans to perform as a featured guest on Dick Clark’s annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special.
