In Showtime’s latest bid to muscle in on HBO’s successful original programming territory, the
pay cable network will soon release the Don Cheadle vehicle, House of Lies. The half-hour comedy follows the life of Cheadle’s character, “Marty”, a successful management consultant who is a not-so-nice guy. The show will debut on January 8, but you don’t have to wait for the new year; Showtime just released the full first episode on its YouTube channel.
According to BlackThespian.com, the show will costar Dawn Oliveri as Marty’s ex-wife, Glynn Turman as his therapist dad, Donis Leonard Jr. as his son, Kristen Bell as a smart young consultant at the firm, comedian Ben Schwartz and Josh Lawson as colleagues. The show is based on Martin Kihn’s bookHouse of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, which details his first two years as a management consultant.
