If it’s not one controversial tattoo it’s another these days. Whether you’re Yung LA getting
ducks and “LA” tattooed all over your face, Rihanna being a Tupac imitator or Kid Cudi slitting your wrists with artwork– someone, somewhere will have something to complain about.
And for Erykah Badu and her faith, it means that you might even get banned from being able to do your job in another country. The “Love of My Life” singer was just recently banned from Malaysia on a recent trip to perform after it was made news that the long time artist had a painted on tattoo of “Allah” in arabic language on her body.
Apparently, this was all decided after Erykah made the long trip across the world– and officials released a statement that said it is “an insult to Islam and a very serious offense. [The tattoo] triggered public criticism that could jeopardize national security and cause a negative impact to the government’s image.”
So naturally, she is allowed to stay and travel as a tourist (aka spend money) but will not be allowed to perform and do what she was scheduled to come and do. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that this certainly isn’t the first time Erykah offended someone with her creative spirit. What about one of her more recent videos where she can be seen walking out of her clothes and in the middle of the road naked? That one stirred up some controversy in itself.
