sources thisbeatgoes.com Snoop Dogg made an investment in one of his favorite sports and
recently became part owner of a woman’s football team. The investment represents Snoop Dogg’s second financial attachment to the sport as the rapper created the Snoop Youth Football League back in 2005.
Snoop Dogg’s team, the Los Angeles Riderettes, is set to start off the Ladies Arena Football League’s inaugural season on May 19th when they play against the New Orleans Lady Dollz, although it’s not entirely clear where the game will take place. The league has managed to bring on board four other teams in Baton Rouge, Kansas City, Houston and St. Louis and plans to unveil additional competitors in Las Vegas, Oakland and Atlanta.
The Ladies Arena Football League will have to compete for media attention and fans with the more established Lingerie Football League, which has been in operation since 2009. Both Leagues seem to follow nearly identical rules including the use of lingerie-styled uniforms, although the LAFL plays 8-on-8, while the LFL runs 7-on-7 games.
The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ hit-maker recently appeared on The Price Is Right to promote his youth league during the show’s celebrity charity week early in January. The rapper managed to win $72,585 for his league after helping a contestant pull in $10,000 from one of the show’s games.
