18th National Sports Festival Eko 2012 Kicks Off Today

The 18th edition of the Nigerian National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012, commences today
November 27, 2012. The  18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012 will be  a colourful and memorable opening ceremony today at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The Secretary General, Kweku Tandoh, assured the best of the state will be on display with the gate opening at 3pm with pre-opening ceremony activities.

All the participating states will also be on parade before the torch of unity makes an entry into the Teslim Balogun Stadium, venue of the opening ceremony.The sports festival will see the participating states competing for medals in 32 events. The events include athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, cricket, cycling, deaf sports (athletics), deaf sports (table tennis), football, gymnastics, handball, hockey, kickboxing, judo, para-athletics, para-powerlifting and para-table tennis.

Others are scrabble, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, trado-Sports (abula), trado-sports (ayo), trado-sports (dambe), trado-sports (kokawa), trado-sports (langa), volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.
